Thoughts on SPEC clutches?
I've also read that the spec is better with the GT2 slave conversion. The random engagement point of the stock slave makes it difficult to drive. I'll let everyone know if it sucks in about 2 months!
If have an unsprung unit you will be taking it out! Unless you are a straight up racer. The clutch is almost impossible to modulate for street use.
I'm using the stock dual mass flywheel. Doesn't that make it acceptable? I could possibly switch but I don't know if the sprung hub will fit on the stock fly.
i have a spec stage 2+ thats the way you want to go i dont have the gt2 upgrade but I have plenty of feel but mind you I rarely drive wearing shoes and still took some time to get used to it.
Are you using an aftermarket fly wheel and is your clutch a sprung disk or not?
Turbos come with a sprung hub disc as stock..
I'll go ahead and agree with a few posters on here. I bought my 996T used and the PO had installed a SPEC 6 puck clutch. That's about all I know about it except that the car is REALLY hard to drive. My dad has been driving manual cars for 35yrs and he couldn't get it out of his driveway.
The clutch grabs great and doesn't slip, but it is murder to drive in the city or in stop and go traffic. If it ever gives out I will replace, but hard to replace something that isn't broken.
Plus side is that nobody asks to drive your car!!

Just called Spec and they claim that their sprung clutch will not work with a dual mass fly. They put the solid hub on the dual mass and the sprung hub on the light weight fly wheels. I wonder if timmccloud is using a solid hub 2+ clutch and does not know, because you seemed uncertain at first. The 6 puck clutch is the stage 3 and everyone hates that clutch. I guess I'll try to use the 2+ and see how it goes. I can handle quite a bit so it might be fine for me. Vivid sells this clutch so I think I will call them and act interested in buying one to see what they say.
Highhats, could you please specify if you are using a sprung hub or solid, and what flywheel. The concern that I have is that my 2+ is unsprung and I am wondering if I should switch to a sprung. Thanks.
