996TT or E90 M3
I am debating on whether or not I should put a deposit down for the BMW E90 M3 that's coming out in 2007... Or buy a 996TT in 2 years???
I have decided to go with the 996TT, but still want to see some of your opinions.

Yeah I love the M3, but it is not on the same level in terms of sports cars when comparing a Turbo to a M3. I would however take the E90 M3 over the 996TT why ? because I am sick of the 997, it is a dated design. 997, hands down though

I had a m3 recently.. granted a v6... but it definately has a long way to a turbo. Ive had them all... well almost... and I keep coming back to a porsche... hmmmmm.. I wonder why?

You the man Mark!
But, when did BMW start making M3s with V6s?
Oh, I almost forgot to mention...
The I-6 in the current M3 is a great engine... Although, the E90 M3s V8 will be much better.
But I'm going with the Turbo... So, who cares?

turbo, DUH! Now go ask the same question on the M3 board!
Seriously I just cannot stand any of the newer BMW exteriors since Bangelemup Bangle has taken over. I say a Z4 today and it makes me want to puke the Z3 was so SWEET looking. Same with the 645 saw one of those today and the front end is just hideous!
Someone please get rid of Bangle!

the 6 is gorgous, the 5 to, but I perfer the 6. The 996TT is great, but it is a little dated and I am king of getting sick of it, I see many of them. Not that I don't see as many or more M3's, but I would rather get a new car IE a E90 M3.
I think the new 997 looks great... went back to the 993 look... I had a 97 turbo and I miss it.
I think the new bmws ar too rounded and look like high end JAPANEESE cars... just my thought.
the 7 series really thru me off.. justt my opinion
I will add that the cayanne looks like a hundai suv.

I'd say for any of you sick of your 996TT, I'd take it off your hands!
For the comparison, it would only be fair if the E9X M3 was out already and we knew for sure what it looked like, and what the exact performance numbers were.
I personally prefer the 996 look compared to 997.

I talked to a salesman at my local BMW dealer and he told me that the E90 M3 will infact have a 400hp V8... And from the spy shots and P-shops that I have seen of it... I think that it will look great, granted those pictures didn't show much. The car could look nothing like them... I just have a feeling that it will be a beautiful car, as were its ancestors.
BMW just isn't going to release a new M3, that's going to be a flop... The M3 has always been one of the best performance cars for under $70k... I doubt BMW will disappoint us with their new and improved version.
So I think it's safe to say that the E90 M3 will look great and perform like a true sports car. But, as I said before... I'm getting the Turbo, so who cares?

I don't think it's a fair comparison between a $120k and $60k car. A new E90 M3 will be $60-70k w dealer markup. A used 996TT is still around $90-100k in a year or so. You are talking $20-25k price difference.
Performance wise, TT is better in every way. A V8 isn't going to improve the current performance that much. M3 needs a weight reduction through better chassis design and more extensive use of alum, magnisium or CF. That's just not going to happen w a M3 that's based on a high vol 3 series. Can you believe the M3 I-6 in E46 is cast iron? No wonder that car weighs so much.
The only thing superior on M3 than 996TT is SMG. it shifts faster than manual and tip but needs to be a little smoother.
