The rubber gasket around the 3rd brake light seems to have disintegrated??? Anyone replace theirs? If so did you buy it through Porsche or make it yourself?

Mine has done the same exact thing. Just kind of fell apart. Looking to replace.

 

Mine too but no part # from what I understand u just have to buy a new light assembly.

 

How much is that?

you have to replace the entire brake light from what i recall.

 

Here is another thread on the subject; I have also attached the catalog .pdf where you can read off the PN of the assy (item 14), doesn't appear the gasket is sold separately.

It is molded right onto the light...

Take the light out and do a real nice trim job looks good. The light fits into the opening really well and it looks just as good when trimmed, Better then a torn disintegrated seal.

You next cheapest option is buy a new LED tail-light.

 

I have the same issue! Seems like an aftermarket manufacturer can make some money here...

 

i bought a new aftermarket light, I got clear, looks much better imo and now i have a new gasket, wasnt much money iirc

 

Thanks guys. Either gonna go with an aftermarket clear light or just try to use rubber gasket maker and make it look good.

 

Here's a pic of mine with the gasket nicely removed.

Not the best image because I just cropped it from a much larger image; I am a 110% fussy person with my cars appearance and I think this looks just fine, if I had not removed it myself I would not even notice something was missing.

 

I have the same issue - I thought I'd play around with a rubber gasket blank and see if I can make my own. If not I'll go nekkid like Engine Guy. I'm not replacing the entire light just because Porsche over engineered a stupid 5 cent gasket.
