2nd gear popout fixed...

So when I purchased my 03 996TT, it came with an aftermarket warranty that covered tranny and drivetrain. It was actually one of the many positives that drew me to purchase this particular car but I still had my doubts with whether the extended warranty would actually be of any benefit. So about a year ago, the car started to have the dreaded 2nd gear popout. I never abused this car and the previous owner was a plastic surgeon who also did not abuse the car. Well, long story short, the extended warranty actually came through! Working with my indie I was able to get an entire new tranny from Porsche and I also installed a new Sachs "Sport" clutch as it was time to do a clutch job as well and just for preventative measures I put in the GBox 2nd gear detente part. I am one of the lucky ones. My indie did a great job and I would recommend him highly: Qais from Southbay Autohaus in Hawthorne. http://southbayautohaus.net/

Attached are some pics of the new tranny going in and the clutch.

Who is your warranty through? And what kind is it? Considering getting one for my car just in case.

congrats on the repair and perhaps more importantly, getting someone else to pay for it. i think putting in the gbox detent will prove to be wise preventative. you can imagine the look on my face the first time my car popped out of second.. AFTER porsche rebuilt it! you should be spared that fate.

It was actually offered by a BMW dealership since the car was bought by them when the previous owner decided to get into a BMW. I believe warranty is only offered through dealerships but the brochure is attached here.
