Yeah sorry Urban just as I though, there is absolutely zero protection...

I get it; you guys have a set of rules you want to follow and sometimes things get over looked and sometimes things do not.

I know the job of a moderator can really suck too at times... But lets call a spade a spade. All you really needed to say was.
Sorry guys, that thread no longer meets our selling guidelines so for now it is gone. If and when Slider can find a new vendor it will be put back up but for now you are welcome to contact him via other methods.

This is just my opinion. I know people were upset with the previous closing of this group buy. But here is how I view it.

Weeding out scammers and criminals is nearly a full time job on this forum. People who have been here for a fair amount of time that have a fairly good reputation have been booted for outright theft...selling products they don't have and worse. And just when you think they are gone, and we're patting each other on the back, they return to the forum with a completely new IP and set up shop again.

IB can't offer guarantees. Nor can they make any promises. But they do have contact information, credit card and account info, addresses, names, etc. When someone who isn't a sponsor on this board gets involved with commerce here, IB has no way to intervene.

Does sponsorship guarantee protection? No, of course not. Look at previous sponsors that have been problematic - people have been scammed out of thousands of dollars. But members have a thin layer of protection (IMHO) when IB can keep tabs on who's doing business here. And despite how members feel, IB has gone behind the scenes in the past to try and make right transactions that has gone bad.

I'm not defending IB, just stating my opinion.

On another note - urbanhotrod really went the extra mile to bring this GB back. Kudos to him.

 

Yeah Bob I feel there are moderators like you that do good work. Fair, honest and you try to be un-biased. Ahh yeah the joys of being a moderator / entheusiast...

Hard to be both a mod and an entheusiast, I know that from my own experiences.

Sounds like a PR issue. Why not just close the thread until another sponsor is found instead of Chuck just whacking it? Would have went over much better if presented in a positive light. Now you have riled everyone up and many have defected to other sites or are discouraged from posting/participating.

I do a lot of online sales and a light touch makes a world of difference to get the same thing accomplished.
