No Reverse, 1st 3rd or 6th.. Cable?

Was beating on the car and hit 3rd and it didn't go. Now I can't get into any gear on the top of the stick, R, 1st 3rd and 5th feels spongy.

Pulled the boot and looks like the cable on the bottom of the shifter is moving back and forth and the side to side is there. Thoughts?

Check the white bushing on the shifter that holds it on the housing. they break and cause this problem.

This happened to me as well, go underneath the car, you will see two linkage cables running from the front to the rear of the car, one controls all the forward and so on. Your cable has popped out of the carrier, I, for a quick fix, re-secured it and then used a zip tie to hold in place (actually NEVER came out again). I then went ahead and purchased cup cables which are thicker and have no play in the holder.

Its really a simple fix that can be done in about 2 minutes or you can get upgraded cables from 400-750.

good luck.

Thought I'd post the fix in case anybody searches this down the road.. The cable popped out of the cradle on the back of the shifter box. It was allowing the whole cable to move around instead of just the inside cable that moves the trans level. Popped it back in and added a zip tie for good measure.

I know I panicked a little when it happened thinking, did I just buy a 10k trans? Thankfully its a common issue and a cheap / free fix

Def an unsettling feeling, glad you used my quick n easy. I would however, look to upgrade, when I put the cup cables in the car it made me think Why in the hell I hadn't done it sooner. The car just feels so much more precise when you shift, really made a big difference. (Smoother but way more direct & stout).

cheers.

Solid advice. Now that its fixed I'm looking at prevention and upgrading.
