Help with ID of "Sport Shifter" please.

I am doing research to confirm which shift kit I have before changing out my shift ****. When I bought the car I was told it has the "Porsche Sport Shifter." Without disassembling my center console, I can't see any part numbers, but is is stamped "09/03 0002". I'm guessing this is a date code as my car is a 2004 (late 2003 manufacture date). Which leads me to believe it came new with this shifter. From what I have read, it appears to me to possibly be a B&M due to the "P" stamp and black anodized base??? It certainly feels like a short shift kit of some sort. Can someone confirm my suspicions?

Also, if I do have the 996 SSK, outside of feel, what is the difference between the 996 and 997 SSK in throw, height, etc?

On a side note, is there an on-line resource where a VIN can be entered and it spits out factory options that came with that particular car?

Thanks a bunch guys!

Porsche factory B&M for sure. Black instead of blue with that logo on it. The 997 shifters are smoother. Everything else is the same. If you are happy with it you are fine. If you feel it could be smoother or lighter go for the 997 sport. (blue cage instead of black) It has the same reduction. the regular 997 is only 15% shorter than the stock 996. Look on Suncoast's website for good details.
