Oil weight for modded turbo

Hey guys just wondering what oil weight you guys reccomend for a 996 with the EVO GT660 kit installed. I bought the car with the kit installed and will be doing first oil change.

Unless the mods included changing the bearing clearances making them larger or smaller than they were from the factory just stick with any approved oil. Ow-40 or 5w-40, or even one 5w-50 (not a typo for 15w-50!).

I'd stay about as far away from any 10w-xx, 15w-xx, or 20w-xx oils as I would from a rabid dog.

For highly modded Porsches I know Todd knighton recommends 20w50 with lots of zdp

As we all know opinions about oil equal 2X the number of people on the planet...LOL. There are lots of theories (like those proposed from BTOG), but not much "real" data. I suggest reading Doug Hilary's posts on the subject (Rennlist and BTOG)...he at least has some data.

Also he recommends that if you are in a hot climate all the time..
Todd also believes in 15W50 for most modified cars that are driven hard for most climates.

Everyone has their .02. My car isn't super modded but when I bought it last year the Porsche tuning shop that did the PPI said they run 15w50 in all of their porsche turbo's. They used Motul, so that's what i've been sticking with.
