Is the GT2 worth $30k more than the 996 turbo???

My reason for TT instead of GT2 was the open top...just love the cab. Had a '78 930 coupe, loved the power, but no cab!
There's no doubt that the GT2 is more of a hardcore driver's car than the 996T.
But it just seems to me that Porsche used the low-production numbers to bump profit as a marketing ploy with the GT2.
Think of this... they take away PSM, AWD, re-design the suspension, and suddenly, people have to pay a huge premium over the X50. Of course, R&D costs money... but the primium that people are paying over the X50 minus the R&D&cost of the AWD and PSM just don't add up... unless you figure in the exclusivity part of the equation.
So, in the end, it comes down to the buyer... For me, while I'd love a GT2, I simply don't see how the primium that I'm paying is justified over a 996T. But likewise, for someone else, the premium is totally worth for a chance at owning a GT2.
IMO, the price of the GT3 relative to the 996T makes sense to me. But not the price gap between GT2 and 996T. Remember, dealers were charging $180~190k for the GT2 at a time when you could have picked up a new 996T for $50~60k less.

What do you think the value of a 2002 GT2 will be in several years? Will it bottom out around $90,000 or continue to plummet?
At first I thought the GT2 would hold it value better in future due to being a limited production model, but if the 997 turbo comes out with over 500 hp and eclipses the GT2 in all performance parameters, won't this hurt the GT2's value further?

Just buy it and enjoy it and stop thinking about resale value. If it bothers you that much, than perhaps the GT2 is not the car for you.
If you want the most exhilarating street 996, then there is no better choice. If I could only keep one, it would be the 2.
I had a modded Turbo which was quite fast (probably faster than most on this board), but guess what, I don't miss it at all! That should tell you something.

Yeah, but the GT2 is way cool looking. I don't care if we can copy its body kit with cheap knock off fiberglass MA Shaw stuff, the GT2 is the real deal. It is also down right scarey when you get on it good. The TT is tame and mild mannered.
If it had a back seat, I would drove it instead of the turbo. My deal is I would rather have my Lambo Diablo 6.0 than the GT2 though when talking 2 seaters above the $ 130k range that are just garage queens. For a daily driver though, I would pay the premium for it over my TT cab if it had a back seat.
