No shyte. You can be downright stupid in the TT and get away with it. The GT2 gets scarey if you don't pay attention because it is so quick and you get to the point of no return so quickly. I learned my lesson a while back though having torn up a couple of old 911s from spins. I now that all too familar oh **** feeling of a 911 tail getting away from you in a bad way enough now to keep it from happening if I just pay attention. The TT you ain't gotta worry about it and don't have to pay attention.

In an ideal world I'd have both. **** and a GT3 too. I think in that order... GT2, TT and then a GT3....

Yeah Baby!...Now add about 300-350HP, Moton Clubsports, Tilton Triple Disc Carbon Clutch, and let the fun begin.

GT2 if you can handle the tail and want a dedicated driver's car, GT3 if you want a predictable track car, 996TT if you want a tame dailey driver. Don't expect to get all 3 out of one car. Your budget suggests a 996TT, but realize that you can not make it handle like a GT2 or GT3.

This thread dovetails nicely into what I've been contemplating for some time.

How different than a GT2 is a 996TT with the FWD components removed? I undestand that the GT2 comes with an adjustable suspention and slightly different suspention (rear?) arms. But can't all these issues be remedied with a few thousand dollars for basically the same net effect AND while retaining the skid control component?

I can't imagine an X50 is that removed from the GT2 engine. They look like like identical twins in terms of specifications.

Any thoughts? I find the even the 30K price differential pretty extreme. That said, I don't really want an AWD car. Doesnt seem so fun! the setup detailed above may be very close, or not?

I would also be very interested to hear feedback from members who have disconnected their front drivelines as well on their AWD turbos. I would assume the rears could easily handle all the power by itself. However, is there a computer that would try to still send power up front or will it transmit it all to the rears?

Also, you would have the dead weight up front. How much weight is the front diveline?

I dunno. My 01 TT had about 700hp and it was still not like a GT2 look a like. HP ain't the issue. The cars are at completely different ends of the spectrum in the way the drive and handle.
