What are the symptoms? Any kind of sounds associated with it? Are they replaceable on their own, or do you have to get a package including turbos?

You can buy upgraded wastegates separately. I've only seen broken rods, but I assume the diaphrams or whatever is in there can brake too. I used 911Tuning's with no issues on my old 18G car. They had monster rods and were angled a bit to help with stress.

They're around ~$300 from most of the vendors I believe.
