Aftermarket Warranty Question--please help!
Aftermarket Warranty Question--please help!
Hey everyone, I have a huge problem on my hands here! Any help will be MUCH appreciated. It's not with a 911 turbo, but it's with our audi s4, the 2000 edition. So the turbos have blown and we have an aftermarket warranty for 2k on it from ADVANTAGE. So the ONLY thing modified is the exhaust system. The car is sitting at the shop to get fixed, they send an adjuster in to look at the vehicle and deny the claim and void the warranty on the basis of the exhaust being modified...is this legal?!!! I mean if ANYTHING the exhaust causes less back pressure, having the turbos last longer. Also..isn't their a law stating that any bolt on product cannot void the warranty...and can only void that part from the warranty product....please help! I don't know what to do..I definitely plan on calling these people tomorrow. What are my options?? To me it sounds like their always just looking for a reason to void the warranty. Once again thanks.
Yes they are just finding an excuse. Fight them.. Magnusson Act protects you.

The M/M act is BS.
If you follow the logic, in the end, YOU have to prove that your mod did not cause the problem,-since you are trying to force them to pay for a claim.
What you have is a mod which is indirectly connected to a part that failed. It is up for debate if the mod caused/contributed to the the failure.
They can probably produce two automotive experts to say the low restrictive exhaust are more harmful to turbo's, for every one that you may dig up that says its less harmful.
If your only mod was a exhaust, and it was your power window that went out, you would have an easier time.
Meanwhile, during the "debate" the car is not getting fixed.
You can try to sweet talk them, but in the end, if you need your car, you will probably have to foot the bill, since legal remedies will take a more than a few day$.
I would also suspect that a turbo job on an Audi is pushing the dollar limit for small claims, so unless you, or a close relative is a lawyer, you can factor that cost into your cause.
Good luck, but if it's anything like my experience, you will throw good money after bad trying to 'force' them legally to honor your claim.
