I have done searches here but could not find any pictures or sketches of where exactly the MAF is situated. Can anyone help me with some pics please.
Thanks in advance

Are you going to repalce the MAF? Not sure how is in Porsche but in BMW's the MAF goes dirty and soemtimes cleaning it make s a ton of difference in power/fuel comsuption, and sometimes it just need to be repalced with a new unit.

Nope, just remove the wiring connector and remove the two torx screws. I think they might be security torx.

If you need a new one I found the best deal on OEM from Amazon. I don't know if it will be the best deal for you in South Africa.

Hello again. I found the MAF. If it was a snake it could have bitten me.... smile..
The car was not warm, in fact it was cold. With the ignition on (and motor not running) the resistance is 3 mega ohms. The reason for it being that high is because there is a 0.6 volt drop across pin 5 and earth (ground). I don't know if this will change when the car is warm. Any thoughts? Also I saw people write about a diode being used as the variable resistor. We all know that the volt drop across a diode is 0.6 volts. Just wondering if it a coincidence. Do I need the to drive the car to get it to normal temperature before testing or is the value of 6 megs so way off that I might as well go ahead and purchase a new one?
sinKing: Thanks for the help so far. Amazon should not be a problem I am sure. However, I have never used them before. What if I may ask are they going for there?
Cheers

Oops, forget about the resistance. It has nothing to do with it. My mistake.. Sorry.
sinKing: No pointers about Amazon?

Thanks for the help guys. Like I said measuring 0.6 volt cold. I will take it out over the weekend and measure it warm and "on" as well as "started"
Hmmm... 02996ttx50 Thanks for the info as well. Would not mid to have the part number of that diode....smile.. Will have a look to see if a shipping company might be able to ship it to Africa. No need to send your old (broken) one it right?

no "core charge" lol.. but the shipping to SA might be prohibitive? i don;t know, sorry. but i can tell you the less expensive maf seems to respond similarly to the OEM one for a fraction of the cost. it's the same part!

add: i was wrong. it was only 42.00 dollars shipped!

Cheap MAFs...

I once purchased a cheap MAF and then logged its performance with Durametric. The thing appeared to give me an extra 50 HPS, but then all CELs went up. Don't bother, I'd be worried about damaging the engine because of the faulty data the MAF provided to the engine.
