really? 30 bucks so i can start.. or stop worrying about about random particulate matter in my engine. sounds like a good deal,.. and i defer to yours and others expertise on the topic. but, changing oil *early*? also allows us to change filters, and otherwise mess with stuff that we might otherwise wait to do. unlike talking about it which we do in between changes also, unlike 996twins and possibly you too, i'm not tracking.... it's just i think my car is fine! but then.. i haven't had a prostate exam lately either

theres no issues with an "early" change. If it makes you feel better, rock out. To each it's own

theres more to oil analysis than just seeing if theres metal shavings in your oil. water and lead from fuel additives are just 2 things that can be seen thru the oil analysis. if you are using the same fuel stop time and time again and now see a rise in the water level in your oil or possibly high concentrations of ethanol it can help you to determine if its time to change fuel stops. especially if your running a high power tune. power adders contain lots of lead and can potentially damage the cats if you have them over time. the analysis can alert you to this.

its a cheap option and as i race my car all summer at the drag strip changing the oil evry 5k and sending it to blackstone is cheap insurance

i think you've pointed out the deciding factor ( for me ). you race your car, i get mine up to speed for minutes at a time. and change my oil regularly. so am i taking a chance? sure. life. if i were more of a weekend warrior with it, i'd probably do it.. but then i'd also probably be taking the motor apart from time to time just to see what was what.. also. oil analysis can't be bad advice. again, i probably don't have it tested for the same reason i havent had my ... never mind. cheers!

plus i don't like the name "blackstone".. sounds like an alphabet agency front company.

My next change will be at 42k, I've noticed some stutter, convinced myself it's ignition (although no missfire codes). I've already purchased another set of plugs and full set of coils (997 parts), I'll replaced them while in there this time.

Kept up oil changes at 5k or less (12k, I think it was 15k for a while, before Porsche revised it ). Cheap Insurance...
For those that want to wait until 30k or more for a plug change. I replaced the plugs and coils today at 42k (20k since the last change). There was a mild hesitation on throttle and a "stutter" around 4k revs, hesitation and stutter are completely gone. Since buying the car, both times I've replaced the plugs (around 20k) I've experienced an improvement in performance. IMHO >20k is too long. Yeah I'm ****, I paid a lot of money for the car it needs to perform as I expect it, it's a Porsche not a Nissan.
On the oil and looking for particulates, the place to look for these are in the old oil filter, I cut mine open each oil change.
