997 itch
Steve car looks sick , I would run the orange wheels I like them... Did you get that off a forum member ? The car looks familiar.
Comparing 996tt to 997tt has a lot of variables. In your position it was probably the right move. Can't say it for everyone, i thought of it many times and if money meant nothing it would be a good idea but it's a huge price gap once you consider modding.
Lastly it depends how often you drive the car. When I have the 996tt out its strictly for having fun, not trying to impress anyone just want a good driving experience that I can get aggressive with and once in a while head to the track or an event to compete. The 996tt is more then capable of doing that and some heavily modded 996tt even more capable then 997 platform.

i've been talking and talking and working my *** off for this car for a while now..
the fact of the matter is that i should have grabbed my ***** last year and bought it...
i am actually buying a car i was looking at last june and paying abit more for it.. but it's worth it.
the car is SPOTLESS. and i mean SPOTLESS. entire front of the car is wrapped... i've got 3 sets of monoblock forged wheels... brand new mpss... plus a ton of other stuff.

yup its a members car.. but there are THREE members with black 997s with orange rs wheels lol..
this 997 will probably see 10k miles in the next 6 months EASY. easy easy easy.
its going to be driven. hard.
it will be powerslid everyday like the 996. it will have it brakes blushing orange like its a boy talking to a girl for the first time, on a daily basis...
aesthetically.. the car will be babied.. waxed every week.. the usual..
mechanically.. too violent to type. HAHA

nope im in brooklyn not manhattan.
but i travel. A LOT
between baltimore, philly, boston, and chicago (i fly to chicago though).
theres this awesome roundabout here in boston that takes me to my office. i slide it often... every single morning that it rains..... slow speed 25-30mph type onramp. and when i say slide, im not talking about a tiif needel pedal to the metal slide...
im talking more of a prince charles top of the mornin to ya type of slide. lol nothing dramatic..

I put 30k on top
that would equal 70k
Heres one for 65.
So yes 20-30k on top of our cars (assuming under 50k miles)
will get you a 997tt

turkish, i did that same like you, until i actually pulled the trigger.
i thought my car would sell for 40k too lol
more like low to mid 30;s.. trading it in ? good luck getting a dollar more than $30k..
that car u link is nothin special. no ceramics... doesnt really have many options..
if youre going to upgrade to a 997.. go hard. make sure u have ceramics, make sure u have adaptive seats... make it worth the while...
once again, it is going to be the LAST of the best 911's. think about that for a minute, especially for future resale value (if you dont plan on keeping it forever like i do).

steve,
I get what youre saying.
But in my mind ceramics are overkill, replacement is expensive for something I will only
utilize 1-2 times a year.
I dont think these cars really have many options to begin with.
The parking sensors are useless (the car is the size of a go-kart for gods sake)
there is a dash wart (assuming we are going to time ourselves to work)
adaptive seats make sense and so do the suspension upgrades.
However both of those will probably be replaced with aftermarket upgrades.
So in my mind I could care less about options, I will replace most of them anyways, but I understand that you are thinking of getting something more exclusive.

turkish,
i agree with a lot of what you said as well.
however.. ceramics will last forever. the car i purchased has 56k miles, ceramic rotors are still at 95+ % life...
they will last forever. why do ceramics not last forever for some people who track them ? because they use the wrong pads.
also i have serious OCD issues (i take wheels off to clean the inner barrel when i detail my car).. ceramics are dust free.. thats another reason i wanted them..
also 380mm rotor... im still a boy racer at heart man.

im single no wife or kids..
i spend less on my car than most people spend on their escelades or m3's.
