Fan on intercooler
not to bad this idea...
the motor compartment fan does a lot against heat soaking..
i tested my car and at low speed and my compartment temp without a fan was to high...so i can imagine that a fan at the ic can avoid heat soaking

I have talked to a few Master Porsche Techs at our PCA gatherings about our IC ducts not being effective after 160mph as a member indicated..
The Techs said that Porsche has did all the wind tunnel work/data to prove they are effective without any doubts because how they were developed and used on the GT2's??..

Oh I'm just pointing out that BHT doesn't know what he's talking about as I usually do when he is making crap up.
I expect there is absolutely no reason for a fan at low but particularly high speed. I am sure Porsche did plenty of aerodynamic testing at speeds at least to factory top speeds. Just think how fast that fan would have to turn at 180mph to actually increase what is already being funneled through.
Little air flow does not mean the air flow is insufficient.
At low speeds there is no boost being made so the IAT is not raised and the little air flow is not affecting IAT.
Before I mod'd the stock Turbo's IC ducting I'd like to see IAT readings taken at various speeds/boost levels to see if there even was a problem.
My take is there is not.
At 168mph in the hot AZ summer heat my 03 Turbo didn't appear to suffer from any lack of intercooler cooling capacity.

If your ICs are big, and you have modded ore removed the ducting, you have disrupted the Venturi effect that draws air into the side vent.
Most people think the air just simply flows over the intercoolers. The long narrow channel that opens into a wide bottom by the rear bumper creates a Venturi tube that draws air by creating a pressure differential.
I think this is why your seeing inefficiencies when the IC gets heat soaked.

Until someone who uses the upper and lower ducting with a high quality aftermarket IC and still manages to record/datalog an IAT spike after 160 MPH, I'm inclined to believe that the high-speed IC inefficiency some folks are experiencing is being caused by the removal of critical IC ducting parts which appears to actually be reducing their efficiency and performance. Just a hunch though.
Yep ! No reason why it should be taken out .

righttt...... was that idea kicked around before or after frosting your coolers with nitrous?

BUT I THINK THIS WHAT WAS REALY GOING ON IN TODD's HEAD

Once again....im not gonna go spend $100,000 on motor, transmission and goodies to prove anything to you. All you did was buy a car that's already fast. You got me!! Your car is faster than mine!! I still am convinced you rarely know what u are talking about and regurgitate the rest of the time. Proof is in your first statement about the fans...lol...
Hey, troll. Do you even know what IATs rise to during a 200+mph run? Why don't you show us some of your extensive knowledge at the next race event.
