Because even when in the off button position, its not really off. It will come back on and you wont know it unless your foot is partially on the brake. The only way to make sure its off is to unplug it.

My rear pads last over a year on a track only car with 10 events on them.

Fully agree, and have noticed. I need to pull the plug but am a bit on the cautious side.

It's a bit of a pain controlling the car on the track when it makes over 600rwhp on waste-gates alone...
