Differences in model years?

Being a 911 newbie, what are some of the interior/exterior/engine differences by model years?

For example, I took a look at a 2001 996tt today, and the wifey noticed that it did not have a glove box, which I thought was strange. Later today I found out only the 2002+ MY 911s have a glove box.

Does anyone know other differences/enhancements/deletions, etc. in the other MYs (ie. 2000, 2001, 2003, 04 and the 997's 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10)? Thanks.

Lot of info to cover! If you search all your questions on the forum you will find what you are looking for! I spent almost a year doing research before I bought mine! I found my car on Ebay and it was being sold by Evoms for one of there customers. Get the PPI and all questions answered before the auction close! I have bought my last 5 cars off Ebay and not had any trouble. I usually fly and trailer or drive the cars home! Make a fun trip out of it! Good Luck! :-)

Besides the glovebox addition in 2002 they added effective cup holders.
And according to Excellence buyers guide in 2002 they strenghten/stiffen the mid chassis/cabin area by 25%..
Also in 2002 they introduced the X50 option..

Early 01s also had "warts" on the front bumper. Late 01s fixed that.

svt_Troy is infamous around these parts

I’ve searched for the exact thing as the op but it seems hard to findthreads that are older when you’re guessing on key words to use........ I wouldlove if this forum had a nice sticky thread or info thread that contained a collaborationof 911 Turbo data

Seatbelt tensioners are different between 2001 and 2002 up. My advice is to find the color combination you want with the least amount of miles and for the price you want. I drove many 996TT's searching for mine. Frankly, outside of the glovebox, I couldn't tell the difference between model years. I wanted white with black interior. I searched for an eternity, but found it.

The top priority should be the condition of the car. I'd rather have a well kept 2001 than a 2005 with no records.
