New 996 Turbo owner

I've just purchased my very first Porsche, a 2002 911 Turbo. I've always wanted a Porsche and it's great to join this site as a contributing member. I'm coming from a Evo X, so the car seems stupid fast to me so far. But I'm sure that will change and the modding can begin.
My hours at work spent searching for a car can now be spent learning ever thing about the car and planning my next purchases. This is my first Porsche though, so if anyone wants to give me any valuable advice, do's/don'ts, etc I'll gladly accept. Thanx guys!

My suggestion is to not just start modding the car with talking to a tuner first like 911tuning. I spent a ton of money on my 1st 996 turbo by buying parts that guys on this forum suggested I buy. None of the parts worked well with each other and they were junk. I maybe had 525hp after spending $7k. Set goals, talk to a experienced tuner with a track record and listen.

Thanx guys, not sure exactly which wheels they are. Came with the car. If anyones interested though, keep posted as I'll probably be selling them as I want black ones.
Has 34000 miles, paid $42,000 for it. So already a psm/abs failure light came on. Searched and apparently this is a frequent issue and could be any number of things. Am taking it to get oil changed so hopefully it's nothing major. Also, in my spare tire compartment there was a little black box sitting atop the tire. Opened it and it had a bunch of wiring and a plug...I'm thinking it is a diagnostic tool? Is this standard or did last owner just forget it. I'm going to look again after work and see if it is if I can see what codes come up.
Finally, does anyone have a good recommendation for smoked/tinted tail lights. I'm quite happy with car so I'm not dying to mod it but taillights are hideous IMO. I've seen some overlays for about $50....but not sure if that is best option.
4080 thanx for recommendation...I will definitely speak to a pro before I go overboard with engine mods.

$42,000 for 34k miles is a great price. Was it a private seller, dealership, or ebay?

Dealership....was being sold for $45-something but I talked them down. Been looking for the right one for MONTHS. So it's nice to finally have it in my garage.

Good job on being persistent! I know what you mean. I've started my hunt for a 2002+ black/black 996tt manual with relatively low mileage and nav. Not easy to find; found a 2004 x50 with 61k miles but stealership here wants $57k for it. The hunt continues...

Welcome and nice car!!! Take the advice of many and do your homework before you start modding. If you're closer to the east coast, try EPL for your modding pleasure...
