Carbon Side Vent Delaminating

My right side vents carbon fiber finish has separated from the vent in the upper left hand corner. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to reattach, and if so what did you use? I believe the part may be covered by warranty but I am trying to avoid the hassle of uninstalling/reinstalling the vent.

This happens if you leave the car in direct sun a lot. I have had mine replaced twice under warranty.

This is a know issue. The carbon that is exposed to the sun does this crap... They know what to charge for this stuff, but it is crap. As long as your under warranty they will replace it. Once your out.. Your on your own..... They will not touch it....

If you remove the vents and and get some two part epoxy at home depot, you can very easily fix it. Mix the epoxy and pour into the delaminated interface. Clamp with the woodworking pistol style clamps (also Home Depot) and let set.

Voila!!

No offense to the product but if it was manufactured correctly this wouldn't be an issue. Carbon parts with the correct matrix content have trouble delaminating under load but from the sun... strange.

I have this exact same issue. It has been very hot here in SoCal and the left had side has curled up. Interesting to hear others have seen this.

Also, there is wear to the carbon fiber from the air conditioning slats rubbing back and forth.

I plan to remove mine and go to leather.

known issue for "wrapped" parts. if this was real structural cf you would not have these issues. mostly all of the porsche cf is laminated veneer "faux" structural.

Well then that explains it all. Some plastics are a biatch for epoxy's to adhere to.
