So k24 compressor with a modified k16 exhaust wheel?

Edit: perhaps I'm assuming the exhaust wheel k16 vs k24 is different? Do they use the same exhaust side, but a larger compressor wheel on the 24?

I bought the car and was told they were k24/18g, which is not the case. Car also has a 5bar fpr.

Evo is going to check for me as well, since it has their serial.

I do not understand your post.

K16..

K24

Both look "angled"

K16 turbine wheel:

Turbine Wheel/Shaft for KKK K16 5316-120-5000 55.00mm Inducer 49.00mm Exducer Porsche 911 996 Twin Turbo

I do not have a K24 to look at but if the dimensions above dont match OP's turbine then they are not K16's hot side.

Looks like 57mm Inducer and 53mm Excuder or thereabouts. I can always re-measure.

Thanks Tim.

On 993/996 K24s, the outermost section of the turbine blades are swept whereas the K16s are straight.

You can see what he's talking about here: http://www.911tuning.com/enlargePic....10110053PM.jpg

For the OP, pretty sure you've got a plain jane K24 with a polished compressor inlet and an Evo stamp. You might try Kevin @ UMW for verification.

If my memory serves me right the K16 exhaust housing is a a/r of .8 and the k24 is 1.0. There are a lot of hybrid setups out there... Like a gt28 in a k16 hotside to get the quicker spool of the .8 a/r over the k24 a/r of 1.0

OP I think we all mean K24 Hot and Cold side. One easy way to tell is the K16's have about a 1" by 1/2" dimple in one the side of the hot housing where the K24 is flat. The K24's have a flat spot there because the wheel is larger. EVO used to also do "Quick Spool" turbo's by putting a K24 complete turbo into a bored K16 hot housing but that's not the case.

My hotside looks like the one on the left (k16), the K24 x50 turbo is on the right.

Plot thickens...Could be a 16/24 "GT1" or the "quick spool" EVOMS set up but that's a K16 turbine housing. Now just measure the hot side wheel and verify which one. Years ago that was the best deal for 550-600hp max before getting into the bigger stuff. K24 turbine wheels do have a factory clip.

That's a great pic for ref! I was looking for one and was too lazy to dig some turbo's out.

There you go. Without it in front of me and using Tim's info looks like the EVOMS set up which confirms the stamping. But now you know it's the "quick spool" config.
