Porsche Coolant Confusion
Doubt is different. Different as in ---> the coolant looks funny or it was mixed with some other un-known chemical or coolant to get you home or to a garage. I know it is not a worry for myself as the engine is never in my car long enough to take a coolant to expiration mileage or years.
Shoot I even put Gatorade in a snowmobile once to get me off the mountain.
Sorry you disagree or should In say I misunderstood your statement but I have bought and sold well over 100 cars and I've seen a lot of coolant that way past its life span and the cooling systems were in bad shape.
But like I said, change more frequently. I have no issues letting coolant go in any thing I drive 3 or maybe even 4 years. But I will not go 5 or more and 150k miles like many of these coolant makers state there products are good for.
The main thing for coolant in a German car is that the coolant does not have nitrates or silicates. This will avoid build up and deposits in the cooling system.
I think Zerex makes a coolant that is compatible and not that expensive. However, purchasing the Porsche/VW coolant is a small price to pay for the 996tt.
