Why absurd? Lookswise 993tt wins even for me. Drivewise it doesnt! Take them both out on a spirited road race and 993tt quickly loses to 996tt. Having said this, I love all Porsches and I hate how some people bash each others cars. As you say, each to their own. Just like with women, different types for different guys and thank god for that...

Love the looks of the 993TT but worth twice as much as a 996TT?! No way!!

Hey guys, im not bashing the 996tt, 997tt or 991tt, they are just not my cup of tea and i without question prefer driving a 993tt. i havent met anyone that has driven both alot that prefer the water-cooled turbos, they are big and heavy and you can tell it when you get out of the 996/997/991 and into a 993/965/930. Will the watercooled cars outperform the older cars, sure they will its the newest generation and the 911 continues to evolves, however, they continue to take the driver and experience of driving away from the 911 which is what its all about for me, not whats fastest.

10 years from now the aircooled cars will continue to be worth more money than the water-cooled cars, that should tell you something

I have both, a '91 964 Turbo and a 997.1 TT.

I would take the former any time of the day, any day of the week and any week of the month and yes it is that good.

IMHO the 996tt will be remembered as the last raw 911. Water cooled and all. Especially with the 6 speed becoming extinct. I really like the 997 but it is simply too GT. To me the 991 is a 2-door Panamera. I will hopefully add an air cooled to my collection but I will never part with my 996. In 20 years I bet most of you will be surprised with the value of the 996.

I totally agree! But 964T had only "one" turbo, not one on each side.

I owned a 930 turbo many years ago. My dream car was always a 993tt. When I got ready to finally step up to a newer car, the 993tt cost a bit more than a 996tt. I ended up buying a 996tt, based purely on the test drives. I guess I'm not a "purist" because the thought of buying another aircooled Porsche now is ridiculous to me. I still think the 993tt is the best LOOKING turbo, but worth twice a 996tt, because it is the LAST of the aircooleds..sorry...not for me anymore...
