Any long term issues with GT2 clutch conversion?

I've had the clutch assist spring removed for about 9 months now. I've never gotten any clutch codes.

Best mod I've done so far.

I may at some point put it back in with a lighter spring.

Don't understand why you guys are posting about a spring in this thread. The OP did not ask for opinions on alternatives to the conversion just on the reliability...Back to the OP's original question...had mine for a year...no problems (and no worries about the slave/accumulator either)

The OP is complaining about the clutch feel. The clutch conversion "may be my solution"

Removal of clutch booster spring is another option for people looking for a better clutch feel.

Ditto. 2 years and no issues. Sometimes the dealership techs think my slave in leaking because there's a little residual Pentosin in the blocked off power steering line, but I've never seen it on the ground. It's rock solid.

Sorry to anger you, just was trying to give him another option that's not $1000 and is reversible. My apologies if I upset you.

To the OP, try the spring and the spring replacement. It's all reversible, it may help you with your first gear starts. if that doesn't work, I'd try the $1000 route second.

This is a great diy. I have the oem setup and have similar engadgement issues, especially on hills..and stupidly replaced the "bomb" (accutator) recently without performing the GT2 upgrade. Oh well. I guess I will look into the spring solution and most assuradly perform the GT2 upgrade when clutch time comes around. Great posts btw.

I actually quite like the spring replacement suggestions. It may be a simpler solution that I can do soon, and if anything I can progress to the GT2 conversion later on. Thanks for the advice guys!

I find the engagement point of the clutch to be too high, and I just can't seem to get good starts from first without feeling like I'm burning the clutch. I know that the clutch is fine, I had a detailed PPI done on the car (and it only has 9k miles on it).

In the reading I've done, it seems like a GT2 clutch conversion may be my solution. However, I've also read that some people have some long term issues as a result of this mod? Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks!

Call Kevin at UMW and he can shed some light on the reliability issue regarding the GT2 conversion using the bracket method. I spoke with him about a year ago and he recommended against using the bracket (can't really recall why) and said to rather do it just like on the GT2 using all factory parts. I had it done as per his recommendation when my engine was out for coolant pipe welding and have had zero issues. Mikelly is another guy here that had a failure here with the bracket IIRC.
