Running lean may not be the issue, but if you are running injectors over their duty cycle and any other variable is introduced a lean condition may occur. Not that one is present right at the moment, but running on the razors edge is not my personal style. I prefer to watch that on tv or at the track! Not my dime if they blow up!

Guys don't be too literal or serious, a little light humor (ie commission). But it is a buddy's TT and I've driven it and it hit 1.2 bars every time I went WOT. It is a local tuner and cheap. And quite frankly, I was raised there are no free lunches so, I'm skeptical. Personally it was a thrill to drive, but I can't even come close to driving my stock TT to its potential (I have a lot to learn). I have several AX and a few DE and learn something more every time. So 1.2 bars, probably not as I have to learn how to drive first.

reliable safe tunes on a stock car should never boost beyond 1.0. tell me i'm wrong. overboosting might be symptomatic of something else going on, and i'm not saying there is... but again, 1.2 spikes are not *normal* for a k16 flashed 96t.

'cup of tune" just caught that. nice ha.
At one point my K16 car started boosting to 1.2 and 1.3 on occasion after always boosting to 1.0. I knew something was up. Car had an overboost code I found with the durametric. Turned out my N75 valve had a crack in one of the tubes causing the car to overboost. Replaced the N75 valve and I'm a perfect 1.0 bar boost ever time on full throttle.

This topic of more boost has been discussed before and the consensus was that 1.0 bar on stock K16s is about their limit, otherwise if you boost more, you are creating more heat and just pushing hot air into the engine with no real power benefit. Would be great to see a data log on this car with this no-name tune. Its the only way to know if its safe or not. I'll bet injector duty cycle is past 100% and AFR is too lean at some point during a run

i trust your judgment on this as well...and the presumably stock fpr is not built to handle that either. which is why folks upgrade to a 5bar, no?

it's just ill advised. by anyone that knows. or so i'm told. i get as much kick as the next guy when i see that once in a blue moon 1.3 in my car. but it doesn't mean i think it's good to try and stay there. i'd say the same holds true for 1.2 on a stock k16 car. not normal..OR advisable.

datalog your car! my k24/26 blew up at 5800rpm 1.3b. lean conditions, ran out of spray.

it took me two motors failures with a crappy tune that boosted way too high for CA91 craptane to learn my lesson. A durametric cable at $300 is the cheapest insurance ever against engine failure.

Talk to Markski, get a datalogger, then let him work his magic.

My car was plenty fast with his tune at stock boost (.9bar). We logged my car a bunch of times and he would send me updated programs until we had it perfect 1.15-1.2b.

thanks again mark!

5 Bar regulators are used to supply extra fuel to an engine that could be running out of injector volume at normal pressures. It is not a must do mod for a modified engine, it is a cheaper solution to using bigger injectors.

I consider it a lesser mod to just changing out to bigger injectors when they are needed.
