Anybody set up Aquamist to inject by boost ?

Hi guys,

I am having hard time tying to emulate aquamist to operate somehow like AEM meth kit... i use HFS4 and dual 1.2mm injectors , tried default mapping but lambda goes to .73 and engine load gets very high at low boost (1.2bar), tried to switch to inject by boost but the same...

seems i need a valid config to try, a piece of advice, something i am missing here

you are spraying too much. default config is not really meant for two huge nozzles like that. turn down how much it sprays. should be able to adjust that inside the control box.

i consider the same too, but ironically i can not find the way...

i tried to inject by MPS, by IDS...
switched MAP sensors
installed a FAV restrictor, used 0.7, after this car wasnt running that bad as before
switched from 2x1.2mm to 1x0.9 and 1x0.5
played with P/I-R
tried different boost but in the margin allowed by pump timing

the best i got was still to see those .73 lambda but engine load isnt getting that high, ignition advance stays low (18 dgrs instead of 30 at mid 6000) but no timing retard

I just wish the best for the guy who invented racegas Against my tuner's advice i didnt buy a simple AEM kit and opted for Aquamist, now i have a toy to play with...

I think I was running (2) 1.0 nozzles with IDC. Never had a problem at 1.3bar..

I sprayed 100% M1 methanol on 93 pump. I seem to recall my car being very happy with AFR's around 12.0 or so...on and off meth, but Tony would have to confirm that. I used to look at my cylinders when I changed plugs and check my oil too. All was well.

I am injecting a bit far fro the TB, like maybe 20 inches away... not just after ICs but not just before TB in the Y pipe, somewhere in between

I used a lot of meth mixtures : 40/60; 50/50; 60/40 and 100/0 M/W
I used a lot of injectors : 1.2/1.2; 0.9/0.5; 0.9/1.2
I used two different restrictors at FAV - 1080cc and 680cc

and finally i used aquamist pump, meth line and injectors, disabled FAV and instead of aquamist controller i used an on/off boost switch at 10psi and read the boost from a vacuum line.

Now..... in ALL CASES ABOVE I DONT SEE IAT DECREASING !!!
(i did flow tests and meth is right in the intake...)

in all tests my AFRs go down to as low as 0.73 at moderate boost for test 1.2-1.3 bar, my ignition retard is more or less like without meth

Have you ever been in a situation like above ? I can find some expanation for everything but IAT not decreasing.... if meth is there we have low IAT, and i know i have meth there...

IAT sensor is working fine, i test it...

If i dont find a remedy i have to close soon my aquamist experiece and switch to a "modded" and "unleaky tested" AEM system

By the way... i have some of the worst customer experience of my life from Aquamist, please make sure you buy this system from a reputable installer and benefit from their support

Hi,

can you show pics of your installation? Do you have data showing IAT with/without M/W injection. Hard to believe that nothing happens.

logs aquamist and boost switch

hi please see logs attached... first two of tehm are with aquamist and 0.5+0.9mm injectors, last one i kept pump and meth lines, i disconnected aquamist controller and used a simple boost switch at 10psi, replaced injector with 0.9+1.2 mm

I will also try tonight to move injectors upwards to the TB, maybe this will help

Hi,

just a quick note: the nozzles are mounted 90 degrees to the airflow. The spray might hit the wall. I would install it in a way the the spray goes more with the flow. The position itself is ok, I think. Once the fluid vaporizes it has done it job and mounting it too close to the TB might be too close.

I will look into the data later. Interesting thing because I wanted to install the same hardware.

Your run with meth is not complete, so I don't see where you get the data from to say meth doesn't do it's job. Your ignition drops to single digit values, so it seems you are having some knock going on.

That was how mine were mounted also.

Not sure why you think it is not working, but it seems to me that is IS working fine..your intake air temps do not increase at all under boost. if it wasn't working, your IAT would be MUCH higher. Look at your NON meth file. Your IAT's increase steadily through your RPM under boost.

hi guys! thanks for your time to look over my BS

I changed the position of the injectors closer to the TB, kept the same config... boost switch at 10 psi, 0.9+1.2 injectors, did a log starting in 2nd, IAT still not dropping, but as ttboost sais not increasing like without meth, i see better AFRs and much better ignition timing...

i am double checking these and next step is to raise the boost and log again

Hi,

for temperature logging I would use a longer pull in higher gear like 4/5. The ECU doesn't update the T reading that quick, as you can see in my logging here:

new injectors position, much better than before, but still some work to do.

I will test IAT till 5th/6th gear soon, i just wanted to make sure meth is spraying corectly down low first
