996 gt2 will I fit
I want a 996 gt2 and I'm wandering if I'll fit in it comfortably. I'm 5 ft 10 and 225 lbs. If anyone in the Pgh. Pa area has one, I'd trade a case of beer to sit in it. Also do the 996 gt2 have second gear pop out or coolant line issues? Thanks for any info. Gordo

Anyone?

Yes, you'll fit. I'm 6 ft 3 and I fit fine. I'm actually very comfortable.
Yes, the engines and transmissions both suffer from the same problems. Second gear pop out is very easy to check for.
Buy it! (just a suggestion )

With the stock seats you will fit well. I'm 6' 4" and 200lb, and I fit in the stock seats. Even put them a couple inches forward. However, they will probably pinch your back a little bit. The lumbar supports on the oem seats are really close together. Probably meant for someone around 170-180 pounds.
Soon as I got a rollbar I couldn't fit in the stock seats anymore because they were too far forward. Added some Rotec seats and now I fit nice and snug once again!

Lots of space in the 996 (except under the steering wheel). As mentioned above, the side bolster may potentially be a little uncomfortable. I'm also 5'10" but I'm 165lbs . Fits like a glove!

Plenty of room, you'll be fine. I have a pristine 996 GT2 with a built 3.8L GT30 setup if you are interested in a modded car. I haven't listed it but I've been tossing around the idea of moving on to something different. Professionally built by reputable tuner and fully documented car. Feel free to shoot me a PM if interested.

I have an 02 996tt and I fit fine, but I read on a post not to long ago that a couple guys were putting spacers under the seat rails to change the angle. Also I'm still worried the stock gt2 seats are narrower than my 996tt seats although I won't let that stop me from buying one. Thanks very much for the response.

You will fit fine. I'm 6' 0" 225. with the GT3 seats and a helmet there is plenty of room. No 2nd gear or coolant line issue on my 996 GT2 with 12,000 track miles. I did have the coolant manifold "glued in" cooling manifold tubes just recently come "unglued". Had GMG weld them all in so problem solved.......then is was one of those "While the motor is out!" opportunities but that is another thread. I enjoy every track session.

I'm from Pittsburgh! And have an 03 Gt2 with the sport seats. I'm 5'8" 200 lbs and the side bolsters are a little tight since I have a stocky build but they fit good. My DAS roll cage gives me the perfect seat position but if you we're any taller and wanted a cage you're definitely need gt3 seats for clearance reasons.

Love these posts...
I'm 6'3" and 225, I'm in decent shape, but I am broad in the shoulders and I have hips like a woman.
The only seat I've been comfortable in, and I've tried about 8 different seats, is the Sparco Evo 3.
I can't fit in any other evo, the racetech wide is tight, fine for a 20 minute session, but I want the hell out as soon as possible.
For the OEM stuff, nope. Won't fit. I have a 36" waist, but my hips are probably 38-40" - I guess I've never measured.
The OEM seats make me roll my shoulders forward, so I am never really 'in' the seat, I'm more 'on' the seat if that makes senses.
Height/weight or one thing, but if you have a wide frame, you'll have trouble. Height, Weight, Waist and Hip comparisons are going to be more accurate for comfort (no, I'm not looking for any dates )
For me, the Evo 3 has been the best seat I've sat in.
