None of it is mod money. Unfortunately I don't have indies near me, so mostly main dealer.

Some big jobs;

Tranny - main bearing failure.

Front diff failure - new diff - bearings again - didn't know you can recondition them at the time!

Cardan shaft - old didn't mate well with the new diff! Noise.

Clutch accumulator

Alternator

Sunroof motor

To name just a few... list goes on...

I guess some have good luck some have bad, I have the bad... But don't care love my car it's just getting old like me in constant need of maintenance. Ha ha ha.

I understand your situation but a lot went toward labor and those are some big repairs. I do most of my own work so that helps but as I get older I feel less like doing the pita jobs so I can understand.

This is my first Porsche.

I typically see many many posts about people spending next to nothing in maintenance per year. My experience has been different.

I budgeted (guesstimated) about $4k for maintenance the first year as I knew it needed tires and brakes as well as some likely minor unexpected things.
I just crossed the $8k mark in maintenance this past year (+$3k in mods) - it has been a long year.

There has only been a few items that were out of the ordinary, everything else is what I would consider 'normal' for a 10 year old turbo vehicle. Here is my breakdown.

Note - I do try to fix it right the first time vs waiting or frankensteining things. Yes if I wrenched everything myself - it would be considerably less, however, alot is very difficult to access for a home mechanic.

Front Rotors/Pads - DIY $550
Tires - $900
Oil Change - $250
Power Steering Pump - $1,500 (previous owners shop botched the GT2 conversion, pumpwas leaking)
Coolant pipe weld (3 accessible pipes) - $1,000
Boost Leak, R&R Diverter valves, F hose, clamps - $800
Oil Change - DIY $100
Coilpacks, plugs - DIY $350
Rear Tires - $500
Fuel Filter, Battery,bleed brakes - DIY $250
Vacuum Leak - $2,000

Hopefully I have tackled the worn out hoses, clamps, connections, etc. and am out of the weeds now.

Just giving an additional data point as new owners come on board. Be prepared.
Wow, Paul, that HAS added up. I see why you're frustrated with it.

You bought the car with 60k on it -- how many have you put on it during the time you've had it? I don't remember your mileage now.

MWR still has mine. Going on 4 weeks now. Suspension is done, custom pushbutton exhaust is being fabbed right now. They say I should be able to listen to it in both modes either tomorrow or Monday. Looking forward to that! If I want either the Quiet or the Loud mode to be either quieter or louder they say they can tune that in for me before buttoning everything up. Hopefully this will be an exhaust that makes everybody happy.

But I may burn all the receipts and enter it in Quickbooks as "Household" so I'm not tempted to write it all out in stark black and white like you just did!

Best of luck with her now. We'll get together after I get mine back.

Cheers!

My big mistake was tracking all of my spend!

Mine is still at MWR for a vac leak - day 31 now!!!! That is what is getting more frustrating that the cost. Glad to hear that you are sharing in my misery - they must be very backed up.
I have put 11k miles on the car since I got it ~April last year. I'd like to see your exhaust, if we ever get our cars back.

Perhaps we could arrange a dual visitation -- they might let us see each of them for a few minutes next week.

Danielle blamed the backup on "some POS TT we have in here that won't hold boost." I had no idea it was yours.

Yeah, I don't want to get her in trouble. She did say they were working on another TT when I called Thursday, though. I thought yours was already home asleep in the garage so I assumed it was some other poor sucker.

All this thread is doing for me is making me thankful for 2 things. #1, I decided a long time ago not to mod this car. And #2, I have an indy shop nearby.

Bought mine @ 58k 1.5 years ago. Since then I've spent close to $10k on it, but a good chunk of that was on new wheels and tires (~$6k). The second biggest chunk was spent on replacing my chipped PCCB's with steel rotors (~$3k parts/labor). Plus, I haven't sold my old wheels or the non-chipped PCCB's yet. I figure that's at least $3k I could get back.

She now sits at about 63k, and just got back from routine service. Next time at the shop will be another big one though. Ball joints, tie-rods, rear toe links, alignment.

These things are expensive to own, for sure. Much cheaper to maintain than some of the other options out there though. For me it was a calculated risk. I could have spent more on the initial cost of the car in hopes the cost of maintenance would be less, but what viable options are there in the same price range? A Corvette? Meh. No rear seats for my kids. A 997? They're still getting too much money IMO, and we'd still be looking at the same maintenance. M3? Another "meh." Same costs, same maintenance, not as cool of a car.

my reasonably ( bolt ons ) modded tt with over 100k miles is less problematic than my previous low mile x50 stock tt, that had every single item known to fail, fail. thankfully it was all cpo warrantied. that's not very scientific, but it's telling nonetheless.

i think, the more you drive 'em, the more reliable and trouble free they'll be. my 02

I maintain all my cars to a t and have never spent anywhere near the amounts mentioned but I never beat my vehicles and buy new or low mileage in good condition also do 99% of my own work which saves big bucks.

that helps..i'd be screwed without help at an off the book rate! but what is amazing.. is that one could find a low mileage unmolested tt from a dealership! and still have a TON of stuff fail from "age". i've never seen anything like it.. except on these. anything/everything involving seals/plastic/rubber lol. just part of the joy i guess.
