Warranty and oil change Q (long - sorry)

Hey guys, I was supposed to pick up my car ('01 996tt) on Monday but didn't because there were some issues including a bent wheel, emissions test failure and some question over the maintenance.

I had negotiated a killer two year lease deal. The car is owned by the son of a guy who owns about 30 different car dealerships in the GTA. The in service date is June 2000 and the car now has 20,000 kms (12,000 miles). The warranty book indicates no scheduled service has been performed. It appears there may never have been an oil change done on this car. Further, the owner has been using the wrong grade of oil for top-ups.

There were other indications the car may have been neglected including a filthy air filter and wiper blades in need of replacement.

My questions: How robust are these things? Can I expect any problems to surface as a result of the lack of fresh oil & filter? In the event of mechanical problems, could Porsche refuse warranty coverage as a result of the lack of maintenance?

Thanks!

12K miles before an oil change is not good but it is not catastrophic either ! After you change the oil, filter, ect. the dealer will never know the difference. BTW I don't think preventitive maintence is manditory by the dealer I could be wrong on this though. I know your not forced to use the dealer...although a lease could be different.

I believe the first scheduled oil change in the manual is 15K. Probably better to change it before then.

fbrick is infamous around these parts
Isn't it every 15,000 mile or once a year? This car has gone 3 years then without the required 3 oil changes. I take it you are not picking this up from a Porsche dealer (and one of the 30 dealerships is not an authorized Porsche dealer)? Probably doesn't matter - the warranty is from PCNA. This doesn't sound good. But, isn't the car already out of warranty for some major components, like engine failure? I would wonder how else the car has been neglected/abused? Can you get a readout to see if it has been redlined/how it has been driven? How can you escape from the lease if the engine does fail? It comes down to the risks you assume and whether the killer deal would still be one if you have premature failures/failures not covered by warranty because maintenance has not been performed.
