996 turbo ECU died
Hello,
For no reason, my ECU just stopped comunicate with the obd port, and the car doesn´t start.
I ear the fuel pump working, but the engine doesn´t start.
It´s strange, because i think the pump is controlled by the ECU, but my Porsche dealer says he can´t connect to the ECU...
help please!

Obviously many many vehicles (like all of them) work just fine with nothing connected to the OBD2 port/connector.
Is the CEL on?
What are the symptoms of the no start condition?
you connected some after marker reader to the obdII port.. you maybe damaged something in the process.. I recall you saying you did just that...
why did you connect that cable? for what purpose? what were you trying to do?

Hi mark, i've tryied to flash the ecu, but with a cable that wasn't apropriate (an friend lend me a vag113 to see if it works) and i couldn't connect because i hadnt the drivers. But after that, the car ran prperly for 200miles+ with stops and startings.... it wasn't even on the same day... do u think it had something to do with it? If so, can i do anything to reverse it?
Hi,
When i connect to the obd2 port, not even the guys from the oficial Porsche dealer, can connect to the dme. That´s why they say i have to have a new one installed

yes, i´ve checked all fuses.
I didn´t started to repro, because my cable wasn´t apropriate.
After i tried the unappropriate cable, the car started fine and ran for more than 200 miles (starting and stopping several times).
So... new ideas!!! please!! (sorry for being anoying.... but... i just can believe the DME is toasted!!!)

When you had that relay issue not too long ago were you able to connect through the OBD?
the relay i had replaced caused the car to act like it was immobilized. all accessories would work ie: radio , lights ect. but key would yield nothing when turned except a cel light. the dealership determined a relay in the dme area had burnt and replaced it. i never was able to get a part # or accurate description of what exactly was replaced
