But when they pop up the hood do they know what has been changed and whats not? Because many cops don't even understand how the bi-xenon works. for example, my friend got a warning and almost a ticket for "highbeaming" the cops in a bumpy road. He did not highbeam him, it was the bi-xenon

All this really boils down to is simply obey the laws, drive responsibly and you will be fine.

I can't tell you how many times guys cruise up next to me, rev their crappy 4's with this huge muffler, etc. Wanting to race.

Ignore them and go about your business of flying down on and off ramps

Every day I see some idiot swerving in and out of traffic with those dumb fast blinking turn lights and cutting people off.

Those are the guys I hope they get!

As far as the front plate law. I simply moddified one of my front lower grills with a bracket to hold the plate. It comes off and on easy. Therefore I have not drilled my bumper and I am obeying the law.

As long as you are not a fool, you will never feel the effects of these measures..

if this passes, they'd better get on pick up trucks and SUVs with 2 foot+ lift kits! now those things are death traps waiting to happen, for the driver rolling over in a 15 mph corner and using other cars as jump ramps or the poor soul that submarines under the damn pickup!

Unfortunately, I think a lot of officers treat refusal to comply as probable cause. If they ask you to pop the hood, and you say no, I imagine they'll suspect you had a reason for doing so, and make you open it anyway. Then when they find some mods, I think any probable cause argument is thrown out the window.
that might be how it goes down in practive but a judge will throw that out.

you can't legally search w/o probably cause in 'plain view.' being someone who can really get the book thrown at them now, i guess i will see what happens if the 11/99 plates don't help.

I got pulled in my 996. Although the car itself is not obviously modified, EVO headers / pipes, software and intake etc ... I happened to be pulling a jetski.

The cop only wanted to get a closer look at the hitch, no ticket or anything, he was just curious.

I suspect that the cops are not after us, but instead after the guy down the street with the toilet sized tailpipe, 50hz blinkers and bald tires. These things look like someone magnetized them and drove them through pep boys.

Lets face it, it's pretty easy to spot your average pimped up Civic, but a 911 ? I suspect the average cop doesn't have a clue what to look for on a Porsche. He's more likely to think "lucky bastard" as you tiptoe past him and then nail the ricer behind you in the civic trying to get infront.

And if they are out for us, they'll get sharky first anyway. Sorry Sharky :-)

A friend of mine got pulled over in his MR2 (not the spyder). The cop says, "Pop your hood". My friend does, the cop looks in for a bit, and then said "Pop your trunk." My friend does, the cops looks around for a bit, and said," Where is your engine?" That could be a fun trick for some of you mid engine guys.
