Need help with DV installation..in the middle of it!

When removing the mess of stock hoses and vacuum lines that is the Diverter Valve plumbing I inadvertantly pulled off a small piece that looks like a check valve and it is black one one side and white on the other, about a quarter in diameter and 6 quarters high with a 1/2 inch small guage vacuum connector on each side. It was located between a piece of clear tubing that leads to the car and a piece of flexible vacuum tubing on the diverter valve. My question is, does the black side go toward the clear tubing, or toward the diverter valve. I thought the white side went to the clear tubing but I can't remember and I don't want to get it wrong.
One more thing, for clarity's sake, the clear tubing uses a piece of vacuum tubing about an inch long used as a connector that links it to this valve. I hope this makes sense, and I'm waiting to put the car back together for an answer...Help!

Thanks in advance.

A picture?

Hopefully you've lowered the engine to make this job much easier. I can help when I get home. But not for a 2 - 3 hrs. Hopefully someone can get back sooner.

In one picture the valve is shown. I plugged it in in the direction I think it was in but like I said in the OP I am not sure. In the second picture, "A" is a vacuum tube that was plugged in to a long clear plastic tube and "B" was plugged in to the valve in question.
Any help is greatly appreciated...don't want to re-assemble without knowing.

Here are pics during my install, see if they help. The last picture is when I replaced the F hose with a braided double layer hose 3 months later when it split...

You guys lower your engine to do this? I just removed and reinstalled both DV's yesterday in about an hour... maybe an hour and a half, start to finish. Its super cramped, but lowering the engine is pretty extreme! I removed my Y-pipe to get better access. How easy is it to lower the engine anyway?

"Lower" is relative we're talking maybe 3", not dropping the engine out of the car. 5 - 10 minutes to gain clearance above the engine; jack under the engine crank case, remove to big nuts from below the the rear engine mounts, lower the engine 2 -3". For those of us with larger hands and high blood pressure it makes this job a breeze.

What he said...it takes about 5 minutes and makes the installation tremendously easier.

Funny story...after reinstalling, I put my y-pipe back on and attached everything but forgot to tighten the large hose clamp that seals it to the plenum. I couldn't understand why the car felt so flat and wouldn't exceed .9 bar during the first test runs. Minor boost leak!
