Its like the side air duct, the 996 guys put that little fin in there to make it look like the 997tt, then the 997tt guys take out the little fin to make it look different..... one of those the grass is always greener type things.

That being said, I'm interested in painting mine and have already gotten the price estimate from a local body shop. Either way, the 996's headlights we have aren't an eyesore but I can understand some wanting to switch it up. I can have it either way. I'd at least recommend staying away from those cheap add-on headlight covers. There's a $800+ pair that look nice but the film and painted units always look best IMO.

Because every other Porsche (with round headlights) was an unmistakable, iconic masterpiece of a vehicle. Porsche dropped the ball changing the 911's headlights and making them Boxster'esque. They mended the look with the 996TT style headlights but eventually went back to perfection with the round ones... it is what it is.

I've yet to see a good job done on painting the lights, I think they all look like #$^%. (my opinion) and just draws attention to the headlights
I'm definitely a round headlight purist and agree that Porsche dropped the ball on the 996 but as hard as I tried yesterday while driving to see the headlights i just couldn't...

ughh I just don't get how people like this... It doesn't look like a 997. That pic above with the black painted ones on the black car look like it has running mascara... I've got to agree with Turkish, the word poser comes to mind because its trying (and failing) to be something its not. Not trying to offend anyone, but just step back for a second and look at them. Really??
