The noise isn't an issue to me, but the car is my daily, and my frequent passenger, well she's not down with a loud *** fuel pump.

A few things. 044's are 300 liters per hour at best. To make 1000 wheel hp you need more then 300 l/h. way more. sure you can fill a surge tank and hope that it refills between shifts. The best advise I can give is this. that big weldon will pull negative psi in the suction line when pumping its rated volume. That is very bad as the fuel will get little bubbles in it. you need to either put the weldon right to the tank or feed a surge tank with a high volume low psi pump and use a 5-8 psi poppet valve on the surge tank, there are many benefits to doing this. Here is one, the high psi pump sees clean fuel at 5-8 psi so it will pump more fuel more efficiently. I use a regulator right off the high psi pump and do not return any fuel back from the engine. my fuel never goes 10 degrees over ambient temp. I hope this helps.

FYI.....

Tim,

Do you have a drawing of what you're talking about with your fuel setup? And how would it work with a flex fuel sensor? My big concern with the Weldon is cavitation and heat. If a return is not needed I'm all about not doing a return. I've just never done it that way before.

I use two FueLab 1800hp Prodigy pumps with an electronic FueLab pressure regulator that ramps them up as needed. No surge tank here. FIC2150cc injectors and custom fuel rails by The Tim.

Could not agree with you more!

Something to look at are the new walboro E85 400s as an retrofitted in tank solution, they are good for over 900whp.

I like the idea of a surge tank because I'm not just a straight line kinda guy, and the surge tank provides me with a cushion of fuel between shifts as long as the volume is big enough. After reading the article Tim posted and trying to wrap my head around his design, I'm stuck really. Tim I sent you an email with some questions on your setup and how to make it work with a flex fuel sensor. Once I have that information and hopefully a diagram I'll make my decision as to which way to go and I'll post it in great detail here.

I have also thought about the new walboro's and running a triple in tank setup, but am not comfortable with that given the horseshoe shaped tank, but I don't really have the knowledge on this side of building a car to say. My GTR had triple in tank pumps and flowed more than enough for over 800awhp, but the fuel got hot as hell and my e85 boiled in the tank a couple of times.

Prodigy,
Any pics of your setup? I'm curious to see how it looks.

Thanks again for all the opinions and please keep them coming.

When I made more power then before and figured out that's what was holding me back. That setup is good for big power on race gas but on e85 it's good for under 775whp or so. Need to move a lot of e85 to make big power on it.

I will try and sit down and reply in detail tomorrow. Briefly though, you can put the flex fuel sensor after the poppet valve on the surge tank.

I like Marks setup a lot. The pumps are quiet, flow enough corn juice and the regulator being electronic to control the pumps really sets this system in a class all of its own.

Prodigy any pics of your setup? And what model pumps and regulator are you using? I'm curious to see how it looks and interested in hearing your opinion on how it runs compared to your old setup.

Tim,
I'm definitely looking forward to your reply. Especially with your fuel temps because I don't want to be boiling my e85, and yet still want enough fuel for 1kwhp.

It runs pretty good and the fact that pumps don't run full tilt all the time keeps the noise down and will make them last longer .... Also less heat for the fuel. I use their top of the line 1800hp each Prodigy 42402 fuel pumps and their 529 series electronic FPR.
