Fuel system to support >1khp on E85

I know there's a million different opinions on this matter and I've read some of the threads found when bringing up a search for a stout fuel system, that being said I'm looking to do a fuel system capable of >1khp on E85. I like Tim's mentality on fuel pumps in that I would prefer to have one pump, not one in the tank, plus two here etc... I was thinking of a weldon, but not really sure. At first I was opposed to losing trunk space, but as long as I can keep the components mounted to the floor I'm ok with making a false floor to put over top of them (yes I still use my small trunk). I will be running -10 to a block then -8 to each rail and either -6 or -8 return with an appropriate regulator through a flex fuel sensor, injectors I'm planning on either ID2000's or a twin injector setup with ID1300 primaries and ID1000 secondaries. I know the setup is going to be costly, but I do not want to go with a system, then reengineer another system to make it meet my goals. I will never use a turbo larger than a PTE6262 or GTX35, but I will be driving my car like I stole it quite often. I will also be running ProEFI for the tuning side (unless a MoTec or syveccs falls off a truck). I sent Tim a couple of PM's trying to get his opinion, but he's busy as hell and I haven't heard back so I'm opening this up to the masses. Thanks in advance for any help/insight/guidance/etc.. provided.

Very Respectfully,
James O'Hara

Hey James, first off.... GOOD LUCK!! Everyone will have there opinion.
My 2 cents and this is just mine now after having done the fuel set up 3 times after listening to some people.
1-044 in-tank feeding a Surge tank. 1 1/2 gallon. 1 Weldon #2345 feeding the -12 line feeding the Y block to 2 -8 fuel rails return with a -8 to your flex fuel sensor because no one makes a -10 or a -12 sensor. this will support 1500-1800Hp on Corn ALL DAY LONG.

Did you custom make your surge tank or use an off the shelf model? Why a 044 in the tank vice something different? One last question (and it may be a stupid one) did you have to replace any of the existing hoses in the tank to withstand ethanol? I have been following your build and I am definitely keen to hear your feedback on the fuel system and syveccs anytime you'd like to give it. Thanks for the information.

James I will give you my opinion by Monday. The tank was custom made. The 044 is because that Weldon pulls a lot of fuel and I don't want it to drain the surge before its filled. Just cautious

I did replace every line into setup.

I appreciate the information and picture very much. I had thought of doing a returnless system like Tim's, but didn't want to choke the fuel with the flex fuel sensor since they don't make one with -10 or -12. I think it would be better suited returnless, but flex fueling is key for me since I'm in the military and move all over the place every couple of years. My thoughts so far are upgraded pump in tank (or new in tank pump) feeding -12 to a surge tank feeding -12 to weldon 2435 to distro block feeding -10 to each rail with -8 return with a weldon regulator as well as the flex fuel. not sure if that's too much area for the fuel, but I figure to dampen the pulses a larger surface area will def work. I'm hoping that will work, but am not pulling the trigger until I get some more opinions. Hopefully Tim can chime in with some advice as well as prodigy.

Just an FYI, I have a very similar setup to Urban but ran 2x 044. Fuel gets hot, my FP @ idle started to dramatically decrease. Needless to say, I am installing a fuel cooler.

There are many opinions out there, what I found out (and my tuner confirmed) a Fuel Cooler is a must they did not put one in the car stock for no reason.

I actually do have 2-044 but that's over killer and uses to much voltage

UrbanHotrod,
Do you think a weldon 2035 would be enough external pump for say 1100ish hp on corn? I'm thinking it might be, but hard to say. I'm most likely going to have a 2 gallon surge tank if it fits because I'm definitely afraid of running out of fuel at WOT when I finish the build on this car. But if 1-1.5 Gallons is enough then I'll go with a smaller one for sure.

That's a tough call on the pump. If your gonna build it for 1000 then what happens if you wanna put bigger turbos on? You gonna change pumps again?? Just my 2 cents.
