thoughts after h&r springs
You know, I've always been skeptical about matching lowering springs to shocks that weren't meant for it. I'd go for coilovers or leave it stock. The stock handling really isn't that bad; it gets a bit spooky near the limit but could be much worse.
i will never understand the disdain folks seem to have for springs thoughtfully matched with various other suspension mods in lieu of a full coilover setup. most of the german spring makers ( hr/eibach/bilstien/sachs.. whomever ) have extensive racing experience with porsche. for springs to work properly ( and trust me, they can and will ) they must work in concert and be matched with other components and most importatnly a proper alignment.
thinking that you can simply put them on stock shocks and you're "track ready" would be misguided. conversely, if a car is faster and better handling than mine ( for example ) it isn't going to be because of a set of coilovers which mine lacks. being comfortably capable of xxx or thereabouts in a canyon would quickly dispel any notion to the contrary.
so, springs are fine and of course well sorted/matched coilover suspension is optimal, always. but springs get slagged unnecessarily, in my limited view.
