Binding Acclerator Pedal

Anyone else have an issue with the acclerator pedal binding abit about 3/4 the to full pedal to the metal (plastic in this case)?

My indy made mention of this when I brought my car in yesterday for a pad change, fuild flush, and general inspection. I noticed it too on the drive home.

Mine is "sticky" in certain places. I've thought about lubricating it but concerned about screwing up the Egas electrics.

I'm also considering putting in an after market throttle pedal assembly like the Rennline systems.

I have never investigated mine but I'm sure if your careful you could lubricate the moving parts and it would improve. There are lubricants that are safe for electrical parts if you do a search.

I have to ask what your indy was doing that allowed him to notice the accelerator pedal was binding at 3/4 to full throttle?...

There have been a few reports of the pedal action becoming stiff.

One or two have removed the pedal and cleaned it and even greased or lubed the pivot. Also, be sure the area under the pedal is clear of any trash.

I have never seen one opened and do not know what's involved. There are AFAIK no field serviceable parts in the thing.

You might find the pedal action is worn out or even damaged. In this case replacement then -- assuming the worn/damaged replacement hardware is not available separately -- is called for.

The Rennline pedal only addresses the hinge portion of the accelerator. But it is on the to do list.
