K24/18G car adding cats back on question???
My Switzer exhaust with no cats on it has become louder than I remember or I burnt thru some of the internals of the can due to years of tracking car or my ears have gotten more sensitive.
Took the car to dealer to have "off road pipes" replaced with the original cats. Low boost is 1.2 bar and high is 1.3 bar on 104 plus. The car pretty much always runs with greddy on low boost and has become my DD for past year.
Do I need to re-flash or will I hurt the car if I do not? Protomotive tune is on board since 2008 and I am waiting for Todd's feedback but thought I would ask the experts on 6.
Thanks!
Tom

Hi,,You didn't say what your cell count was on the cats,,100 or 200 ?
When Todd wrote my tune on his dyno, it was with 100 cell cats which he said my exhaust flowed well to make that HP I did and he told me that I wouldn't probably wouldn't have to retune if I ever went catless with it..
Good Luck..

Don't remember 100 or 200 cells on mine. But just heard from Todd and he said going catless to cats is fine but I may notice a slight drop in pwr. The otherway around requires a retune so I am one happy camper and hope I notice a noise reduction.
Some have said that it might be very small if any. I hope they are wrong.

Let us know how it effected your sound inside the cabin..Thanks
All I can tell you ,since I have been doing dyno testing along the way, is that with your 18gs that that would be true with 100 cell cats,, But with 200 ones it should be noticeable.. I hope I am wrong for your sake..

results with 200 cell cats back on the car
Sounds pretty much the same at start up and idle but there is enough of a difference in what used to be the loud drone rpm range that made me a happy camper!
My ears don't ring anymore and I can hear my stereo much better and talk on Bluetooth speaker too. As far as pwr goes, the car still feels strong at 1.2 bar and 93 pump gas. I have not played with the waste gate %'s and will need to adjust as it gets cooler for sure.
I stomped on it the other day and it was in the 80's degree and the greddy locked in 1.16 bar. Todd said I might feel a loss of pwr but if anything what I felt was a bit more of a delay for the pwr to come on than with the "off road" pipes. One it came on it was there all the way to redline.
So for now, mission accomplished!
