The Alpha 28 is a great turbo, but don't underestimate the 18g. With the right mods, the 18g is a great turbo, and considerably more affordable than the Alpha 28, IF you already have K24's, (it appears that the OP has k16's). If not, that gap is smaller and the decision is a little more difficult, as you have to source K24's AND mod them.

what exactly is involved with the conversion from K24 to K24/18g? I imagine not, but are the 18g wheels a direct fit on the existing shaft and housings?
of course the rotating assemblies will need balancing, but otherwise machining/custom work required?

With Proto and a 70mm exhaust, 16billets will get you low 11's. Fun car

Right now it's a protomotive mafless tune, fabspeed catless 2.75", and just maintenance stuff (new plugs, forge boost hose kit, new 710n, gt3 shifter).

Mod plan will be injectors, turbos, possibly fender intake, and probably add meth when next summer comes around. I don't really want to do IC yet, and I know the clutch will be next, but I may go RWD when I do that.
I went thru all the supporting mods one at a time since the intial 18g/injectors build,,,,and finally after sorting parts out, all I can say is it took all of them together that made the package work nice on the street with 93 pump gas..
Where as the Billet 16s will be instant power 'every' where and the supporting mods will enhance them..
