Tire Size for 18x9

After searching, I have not found a definite answer as to whether or not a stock size 225/40/18 will appropriately fit a 9 inch wheel. Tire manufacturers list this tire fitting up to a 9 inch width, so I would imagine it would have no more stretch than the oem 295/30 tire has on the stock turbos 11 inch wide wheels. Anyone have any experience with this?

Will it fit on the wheel? Yes.
-I would not want to be the guy mounting it though.
Will it work? Probably.
-The question then becomes...why?

I was looking at a set of wheels that are 18x9 and 18x11. I've got a new set of stock size tires and wanted to know if the front would fit and retain the matching rolling diameters for the awd...

If the tire manufacturer specs up to a 9" rim, then you are good to go. Diameters will not vary much.

I run a 265/35-18 on a 9" rim, but could run the 235/40 on it. both of those fronts are a match for the 315/30 rear. which you can run on that 11" rear rim.
