wtf happened to prices?!?! 1
every time a new iteration of porsche 911's is released, the values of previous models takes a dip. why should this be different now? some models eg 993 bounce back and then some. eg my 993 is probably worth more than my 96t. but that's anamolous, and has more to do with the 993 being the last aircooled bla bla. 96t's are great cars. hell i've had two, but i'm not sure they will sit in the pantheon next to, say, the 993 turbo, anytime soon. though i'd park them there.
...and randy.. my russian nurse has proven to be a great bang for the buck so i beg to differ on that point about the value to spend ratio vis a vis eastern block women
though i first tried to endear her to me by giving her hershey bars and stockings. just ain't happnin' lol

My personal findings from my search were that prices for the 996T bottomed out in 2010, and rose a bit during 2011-2012.
The housing market hit bottom in 2010, and I saw so many high end homes and luxury cars going for dirt cheap and less than fair market value. I bought my car, 2002 silver/black with 50k on it, carbon interior, lowering springs, integrated K40 radar system for $41k in summer 2012, and I got a good deal compared to all the other offerings out there at the time.
However, the guy I bought it from paid $35k for the same car at the end of 2010 with 38k on it... he REALLY got a good deal.

New guy to this forum. Decided to finally chime in since I'm thinking I wanna get a 996 Turbo. Found one in the region asking $42,900 for an 01 manual with 23k. Assuming it's a clean car, what is it worth? Do I dare offer $39K assuming it passes a PPI? Prices are all over the place on these cars.
i just bought a 2001 6mt x50 with 45k miles artic silver/black with pss9's, tune, lightened fly, exhaust, and some other stuff for $38,500. Felt like it was a good deal from what i have seen out there for sale recently on here, pelican, and ebay!
I may sell my car in the spring since I'm way to busy to enjoy it. I will ask a reasonable price but will put it in storage before I give it away= and yes you guys can hold me to it lol. My car is midnight blue/graphite with some nice options around 13100 miles.
different cars differen prices. i know two people that just sold 996s. one for 45k and one for 53k. its always a mater of having the right car for the right buyer. color plays a huge part. yellow, white, red .....good luck finding a nice car under 45. simpel things like new brakes and new tires can bring a 38k car to a 40.5-41k immediately after purchase. i think the 996t market is doing ok.

I just paid a premium for a 'Needs Nothing' '02 (White/Full Wood Interior) with 30k. Did I overpay? IDGAF!
I am enjoying the crap out of the car and money was the last thing I was concerned with. I wanted a no stories car.

Ok I rounded up, I paid 38. But I also was trading and had to buy from a dealer, but i sure as **** didn't see any 20-30k cars in the low 40s. I did look until I found one that was mint though with new brakes, tires, and clutch. I guess that made it equal out
I looked for white for so long. Every one I found was a damn auto. No thanks. But also every white one was at least 5k more.

Damn, she is BOOTYFULL!!!
My father and I were kinda thinking $39k would be the right price. This particular car is a lapis (sp?) blue with tan interior. I actually kinda like the color. The color reminds me of an 02 electron blue Corvette my father use to own that I thought was cool. Not sure options. Looks like no nav, but as long as it's easy to relocate the climate stuff the radio would be replaced right away. Of course the main issue is getting a PPI and figuring out if the car is in proper working order during winter when the roads are a slimy mess up north. Maybe it's something that has to wait until it thaws to do it right? Not sure. There's surprisingly lots of choices under 40k mileage in the mid-west at the moment. I wouldn't be afraid of a higher mileage one if it had something done to mitigate potential coolant issues.
I'll just keep my car until I either find someone who will pay what I think it's worth..............or it really just becomes worthless.
Either way, I'm enjoying the heck out of it in the meantime. Although a 997 GT3 looks like a lot of fun!!!
