Fuel pump\level sender connector MELTED (With pics)!!!
I did store\left my car in garage for more than couple months (my bad), one day I went to grab it out and I found it just cannot start up, battery replaced, fuse relay checked and its cranking but not starting up, finally it has to tow to the workshop, I worked with them and unplug and check out everything, we found the ground wire of the fuel level connector had been overheated, the plastic of fuel sender is melted and left a small hole there, recall my memory that I did have gas smell...
And my question is...
How can I replace this connector? I have purchase a new fuel level sender and try to sand the overheated plug, but the plug\connector being very hot again in a short wire, the plug has too much resistance since overheated before.
And any ideas or experience how could this happen? Thanks.

Wow.. Fuel pump locked? As far as for the plug end.. DC auto?? Or one of the wrecking yards? Porsche does not sell connectors, but VW does! There is a good chance that is a common plug. I will look for a part#.

Thanks Mark, I thought myself is a bit lucky too, as it is just on top of the gas tank, it could be on fire anytime...

Same plug burned up. Drove her sat night then we got snow tried to turn her over following thursday and no power to pump. Then i see the wires melted up. Changed the connector. Pump was fine.

Did you feel the plug after change? Does it get warm or hot? Where did you get the new plug?
