So... I took the car to my local Porsche dealer, per the instructions of the dealer I bought the car from, to get a bid to fix the spoiler.
The Porsche dealer informs me that I need a new spoiler, charges me a few bucks for the inspection... The bid is $2,900.00.

The dealer I bought the car from tells me there is no way they're agreeing to that bid for the spoiler and that I need to bring the car back to them (4 hour drive, but I love driving the car) for them to repair in their shop.

The dealer that I bought the car from is a reputable dealer that works on things more exotic than my TT, but I'd like to know if there is a wrong way for them to repair it...

In other words, do you have any words of caution for me?

yes. anyone that isn't familiar with the peculiarities of the system is probably not going to repair it on the cheap ( eg a spoiler re-bleed ) which was devised after some enterprising smart DIY or mechanical folks figured it out on their own, since porsche NEVER recommends or even acknowledges there IS a fix beyond replacing the entire setup, rams and all. for $1800.00 US approx.

so when you go or are forced to rely upon porsche dealers for repairs and advice? prepare to get fkd by the book ( lol ) sorry to say.

So, if I understand you correctly; you're saying that you think I'm fine having the dealer I bought the car from do the repair because they may be more motivated to fix the car correctly without the huge dealer mark-up?

That's encouraging, thank you.

i'm sorry, actually no. what i'm saying is that unles they are incredibly resourceful and particularly experienced with the oddity of this spoiler mechanism? they will be even LESS inclined or capable of repairing it in any way other than the dealer has recommended to you/them already. although there ARE fixes available to you if you find the right help. your problem is that you have some kind of very "limited" warranty completely unlike a cpo factory warranty which would've paid for all new OEM replacement of the parts as they quoted you.

i hope that's a bit clearer but i'm sure not what you hoped to hear. sorry....

Hmmm.....
I'm tempted to see what he would kick in towards having it fixed at the P dealer and just pay the diff.
