Turbo removal / reinstall question

I'm going to be removing and reinstalling the turbos and headers. Dumb question: Does the exhaust need to be removed from the car or can it be left in place on the car and just the turbos unbolted from it? I'm doing plugs also so the bumper and ICs are removed from the car already.

Thx

The turbos have the threaded studs attached to them that the exhaust is attached to. Removing the exhaust is necessary I believe, Don't recall exactly. But since you need to remove the intercooler anyway and the exhaust is easy to remove, you might as well make the job easier.

Don't forget high quality line wrenches. When we did my turbo, the cheap wrenches would deform. 4080 brought over some Snap-On line wrenches that held their shape - you don't want to round off the nuts/compression fittings. Also, spray every nut, bolt and line fitting with PB Blaster and sit overnight to make removal far easier.

Just looked at it at home. I think it's doable with the exhaust in place but obviously easier with it out of the way.
