I'm about to replace my water pump as a preventative maintenance step but first wanted to check what kind of replacement pump people around here are buying. From what I understand the OEM pumps have plastic impellers which can break up and clog the cooling passages. I also heard about aftermarket pumps with metal impellers, however could not confirm whether this is for the NA models only. Anybody got any strong opinions or recommendations ? Thank you.

 

Get a Porsche one, the Laso aftermarket version seems to be a common failure item...

 

I agree. I did a lot of research when I was replacing mine a few months back and it seems the consensus was that the Laso pumps typically have not lasted as long as the Genuine Porsche pumps...
