Impressions on my new UMW tune

I just got the chance to install my UMW 91 Octane tune and thought I would share my impressions.

The only other mod. I have is a Speedtech Quiet 2.5 Exhaust.

I also purchased Kevin's data-logger.

Reading and writing the ECU was extremely easy. Perhaps 15 seconds each time via my lap-top.

Kevin was very responsive via email throughout my purchasing processl Though he was sick he still managed to get my tune back to me quickly and answer some questions I had about post-tune install data logging.

Some things I noticed immediately were:

Iidle was much better.
Power delivery is MUCH smoother.
Throttle response is much improved.
The car is deceptively fast now. More on that below.

This is my first manual car and I'm a newbie to heel/toe. I immediately noticed a huge improvement in my rev-matching as well as a much smoother starting from a stop. My wife commented on how much smoother everything was.

In terms of the power increase it took me a few hours of driving to fully appreciate the increase in power. The power delivery is very smooth and it took me getting out on to the highway today as well as some back road hill driving to fully appreciate the increase in power.

I find that the more and more I drive with the tune, the more I appreciate the jump in power.

On the highway in 3rd I can easily gain gobs of speed. As well as in 4th.

I had my wife with me data-logging when I did some heavy highway pulls.
Without realizing it I found that I had blown the doors off a C63 AMG Mercedes while data-logging.

I'm very happy with my new tune and a big thumbs up to Kevin @ UMW

Thanks for this very nice review!!! I am also very anxious to try my car with my new tune from Kevin. The weather here is not too good and the road are full of pot holes and sand from the winter. I have to wait another month before I can try the car with UMW tune a new Kline exhaust and also RSS engine mount, a gift from a fantastic gentleman from 6speed ;-)….Another 24 days to go…..

I will be ordering my tune from Kevin next month once my car is out of storage this week followed by a major service including Kevin's 997TT coils he sold me and recommended....

Please give me your thoughts on the RSS engine mounts after you install them!

I've had Kevin's tune for 3 years now. He is very helpful & takes the time to answer what I'm sure he considers newbie questions. Just budget for a new clutch with the increased power. My clutch was toast in about 2000 miles but I was told by Kevin early on to expect this. Went with his upgraded clutch & have been fine for 10,000 miles.
