Tire help

Got Falken FK-453 245/35 and 305/30/19 on now. And they SUCK. I can't get over 3500 in 1st or 2nd without wheel spin.

So first of all wondering if I could go up to a 315 or even a 325 on the back. 2nd wonder what the best tire is, always loved Michelin PSS. I do exclusively street driving now. But I'm retuning to EVOMS GT700 and running the wannagofast 1/2 mile at Horseshoe Bay TX in July. Also wanting to get into some track events this year...so I was wondering if Michelin Cup 2 would possibly be a good choice. How many miles can those do under normal driving? Any other good tire choices?

And a bit of car **** just cause:

wider tires will give you less grip in a straight line, not more.. thats whole other conversation.

best tire for the street is the michelin super sport. 2nd would be a toyo r888...
here's my suggestion....
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

theyre on sale.. this is in the same category as a toyo r888 type of tire !!

once you mount it, get an alignment. too much neg camber will make your car chirp. porsches making under 700 hp shouldnt have ANY traction issues at all in 2nd gear, 99% of the time its the tires or alignment.

i think the best two types of tires generally available for these cars are the ps2 and the believe it or not, the oem pirelli's for general daily use. though admittedly i have not tried them all. i do also want to try the yoko ad08's and the rs3 won't fit my wheel sizes, so..

but i do have enough of a memory to recall having put falkens on my 993 until i gave up on them. in much the same way as v12''s on the 96t. straight into the recycle bin. really. cheap tires do not suit, or favor, or belong on this car. sad to say.

Definitely the PSS. I have driven a lot of street miles on the PS Cup and it's a pretty good tire, but not as good of a street tire. They work great when up to temp, but when cold, they are not very good at all. I could easily spin tires in third gear from a roll with my Supra and that was on 50 degree dry pavement. Tires would break loose from a roll in 4th gear, if it was wet. This was only with approximately 470wtq.

And as someone else said, wider tires don't give you more straight line grip.

Later, Steve
