Engine Cover Latch

When I activate the release from inside the car, I can hear what sounds to be the lock on the latch unlocking, then locking itself again before I can get to the rear and open engine cover. If someone else activates the latch and I am standing at the rear and lift engine cover, it opens just fine. Any ideas on this?

I have the same issue. How do we fix this issue?
If I use WD40 on the latch it will work for a little bit and than it goes back to doing what it did....

On each side of the deck lid, there is a black plastic/rubber stop. They are threaded. If you twist them out in small increments, while opening/closing the lid, it will pre-load some pressure on the latch.

That was the fastest and easiest repair in the history of automotive endeavor! Not even a 1/4 of a turn fixed it. Awesome, thanks!
