Spec stage 3+ sprung hub?
Spec stage 3+ sprung hub?
does anyone run a spec stage 3+ clutch on their car? is it sprung or unsprung? I want something not too hard on my left foot
spec says its has a sprung hub but after searching the forum people say its a solid disk..
I read they use the same 999 pressure plate so I figure it would be cheaper to go with this kit since its $1000 and comes with a sprung disk good for 800hp
I know the 999 pressure plate costs about $1000 alone which makes me believe this is a great deal.
is it worth the price?

Our discs from the factory are sprung,,,the GT2 disc most put in are solid..
The spec stage 3 has been reported as being pretty harsh from my research. If you price shop you can get the Sachs stage 2 kit for under $1500 and this will be smooth and will hold plenty of power.
I read that as well but those were from people with the solid hubs..
What the heck is a Sachs 2.5? Sachs has no such designation but vendors seem to throw that number around a lot but it doesn't tell you anything regarding the components used. I have a Sachs 999.764 pressure plate with a 997GT3RS 4.0 disc and a 964RS LWFW. This combo drives like stock, makes no noise, and has never slipped. Where does the 2.5 fit in?

Many 1000+ hp Porsches here on Long Island run a Special single disk Spec clutch that is not offered on the website, but it is a higher then a level 3.
The clutch is unsprung and we run a stock DMFW.
Everyone keeps talking about the Spec 3 WITHOUT a + symbol. The + symbol changes the material and increases the drivability, but costs more.

Interesting? Are they members on this forum,, I just know most all run dual and triple set-ups at that level ..
IMO,,That would have to be one HEAVY pressure plate and a Disc made of material that would be almost impossible to modulate for the street..
It is not my place to share all the info he developed though.
Yes some are on the forum, most are not. They have been running the clutch for over 4 years now and they are on 10 cars running the setup. So it's been proven for a while now. At first the clutch is rough but once it breaks in it's awesome. Not everything is as you read online. Soft peddle, mid pickup and durable and easy to modulate on the street. The clutch was made custom for the original guy after he burnt 3 of them inside of a month.

I had the stage 3+ with the unsprung hub. It was an on/off switch for me. Almost impossible to modulate. I quickly replaced it with a stage 2+ with a sprung hub. Night and day differance. It does everything I need. I also have the SPEC single mass lightweight flywheel. Both been in the car since 2007 with no issue and about 30,000 miles.
