New owner, 2002 Basalt TT
New owner here after nearly 20yrs of dreaming of owning a Porsche.
Shortly after I started college my parents purchased a 1986 Carrera widebody whaletail car. Dressed in white, with a maroon interior and body colored Fuchs wheels... I can still see it in my head  At first i was like YUK! A Porsche? Then I drove it and from that day forward I knew I had to own a Porsche... They day they sold it was a sad sad day for me, my dreams of owning that car dashed in a few short weeks...but my love for the brand stayed strong...
Fast forward almost 20yrs and an additional nearly 7mths of lurking various websites and forums I pulled the trigger on a 2002 Basalt Black Tip 1 owner car with <17k on the clock back in February. Clean PPI and no paint work. I was hoping for an unmolested car but the previous owner had installed PSS9 coilovers, GT3 rear sway bar(not caught in the PPI), and gutted the factory mufflers. After driving the car I am not complaining about the mods anymore
I have a few basic plans for the car over the next few years, tint, wheels, exhaust, and maybe a tune. Beyond that I am not reaching for much. I have a Honda S2000 for a Auto-X/track day toy that I, much like the 996TT now, would have a very hard time parting with it. Two completely different kinds of cars and driving experiences. Both bring a huge smile to my face
Did I mention my wife loves the fact that I have 3 cars now
But to start the year off right with my new toy, I spent nearly 30hrs cleaning it up. I look forward to local events with other owners and experiencing the joys of Porsche ownership.

Got your PM Sam but can't send PMs yet...
Thanks. I know coilovers make a huge difference (have a track prepped S) but didn't want the harshness of the ride. I am pleasantly surprised by the PSS9 ride and damping over my S2ks track damping. Car seems quite sorted in the suspension from what I have been able to tell. More seat time is needed though. The GT3 rear sway was a bonus when I got it on the lift for an oil change. The guy doing the PPI didn't pick up on it when I reviewed his notes.
A friend of mine recently picked up a bone stock 2001 996TT and will likely be doing exhaust and tune before I do... I'll get a chance to try before I buy as they say. I will certainly keep you in mind as I move through all the joys (and sadness) of 911 ownership!

Thanks everyone. I detail as a hobby with a friend on weekends during the nicer month. Really enjoy it and super happy with how the car came out. I think I can count the defects on two hands that are left in the paint. Hardest part is keeping it that way.
Looking forward to a nice summer of driving!

So if I was a purist I would protest and call foul but the way I see it I just saved myself 10-15K in mods..
I put on front and rear H&R sway bars and they make a HUGE difference.. It get's rid of that front end floaty feeling of the Bilstein softer springs..
If anyone is on the fence about H&R bars I am very impressed and feels dialed in.. The only thing left is an alignment.. Good luck..
Congrats on the purchase and getting some good mods with it.
Porsche purists don't buy turbo cars. They buy non turbo cars, usually air cooled, are fat old men who don't drive them except for events in fields to talk with other fat men using words like providence, history and other bull****.
Congrats on the purchase and getting some good mods with it.
